Role:   Game Developer, UX Designer
Client:   Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital
Platform: iOS and Android
Help Percy navigate the skies by pouncing and bouncing from pipe to pipe. Along the way, collect a series of bonus items to increase your score. Watch out for those obstacles, though... they can end your game in a hurry!

Project Brief
Percy's Pounce and Bounce was integrated into the Levine Children's Hospital mobile app as a fun and engaging way to keep children entertained during their stay. The app served as a helpful resource for families, offering tools to prepare for their visit and navigate the hospital. Available in the Kids area, the game was designed to be accessible and enjoyable for children of all ages, offering them a welcome distraction during a challenging time.
Challenges
The biggest challenge during development was optimizing performance. Since the levels were generated on demand, it was crucial to remove elements from the screen as they left the player’s field of view. If these items weren’t properly handled through a garbage collection process, it would cause lag and a significant drop in frame rate. Once the cleanup process was implemented, the game’s performance returned to its expected smoothness, allowing for a seamless experience.
Conclusion
Working on Percy's Pounce and Bounce was an incredibly rewarding experience. It was fulfilling to contribute to a project that could offer children a moment of escape and joy while waiting for medical care. I hope they enjoyed playing it as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life.
