Insidious - Turn of the Key

Use the key to unlock the door and escape before time runs out! Three rounds with increasing difficulty. Jump scares included!
Project Brief
Built using the JavaScript based Phaser game engine, Turn of the Key was created as a promotional mini-game for the most recent installment of the Insidious movie franchise. Players were presented with three levels (increasing in difficulty) where they had to move a key inside a keyhole without touching the sides of the game board. If the player was successful, they'd advance to the next level. If they touch any of the sides... JUMP SCARE!
Challenges
Implementing any web-based game for a mobile experience comes with a unique set of challenges. That said, those challenges, coupled with the need to play nicely with the integrated browsers within Snapchat and Instagram, had me scratching my head at times. Testing and troubleshooting methods (and a LOT of patience) proved to be invaluable. Oh yeah... and lots of coffee.
Conclusion
Despite its challenges (and its squishy requirements), I would consider the final result of Turn of the Key a success as it was delivered on time and on budget. Plus, who doesn't like a jump scare every now and then?
