Project Brief
The Crane Signalperson Training course, offered by the Finishing Trades Institute, provides essential online training to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively communicate with crane operators. This course covers key aspects of crane signaling, safety protocols, hand signals, and proper communication techniques to ensure smooth and efficient operations on construction sites. Designed for both new and experienced workers, the training combines practical instruction with interactive elements, helping participants gain the expertise needed to maintain high standards of safety and productivity in crane operations.
Challenges
This course incorporated a variety of media formats, including sound effects, voiceover, 3D animation, and greenscreen video. One of the biggest challenges was creating an engaging training experience with these diverse elements while ensuring optimal performance online. Throughout development, we had to carefully consider load times and overall performance to ensure the course was accessible for users with slower internet connections and older computers.
Conclusion
The Crane Signalperson Training project was a rewarding challenge that incorporated a variety of media formats. By carefully managing load times and ensuring accessibility for users with varying speeds and technical situations, we created a smooth and effective learning experience. The end result was a comprehensive training tool that successfully delivers key crane signaling skills to students involved in the finishing trades.
